damn you, moon

Damn you, moon
circling round my world, pulling the tides and
pushing me mad,
like a literary cliché
by Shakespeare or Sting or Some Such Schmuck

Take your seas of tranquilities
and come back in our grasp,
where you are no longer magic or manic.
Become a part of our lives again
in science and saga,
and be our satellite instead of the long lost sister, moon

Let our Armstrongs leave footprints upon you again,
And become our touchstone to our star’s other wonders.
Let us transcend this blue orb,
So that we can once again see ourselves
As we are.
